Streaming YouTube Audio

Many people like to use the YouTube app or YouTube.com to listen to music. You can stream your YouTube audio from your favorite devices through VSSL to your in-home speakers using AirPlay or Chromecast.

Streaming YouTube Audio using AirPlay

On your device, open the YouTube app  or go to YouTube.com. From the YouTube app, tap the AirPlay button  in the bottom right corner of the player and select the VSSL audio zone that you want to stream to. From YouTube.com on a Mac, click  in the menu bar. Under Output Device, select the VSSL audio zone that you want to stream audio to. When you play your YouTube video, the audio will start playing through AirPlay on the selected VSSL audio zone. When you close the YouTube app or close out the web browser, the audio will stop playing. On a Mac, click  in the menu bar and select your computer’s internal speakers to return your system to normal use.

Streaming YouTube Audio using Chromecast

First, you need to ensure your device is on the same network as your VSSL unit. Once you are on the correct network, open the YouTube app  or go to YouTube.com. Tap the Cast button Inactive cast extension .  On the YouTube app, the Cast button is at the top of the Home screen. From YouTube.com on a computer, it’s in the bottom right corner of the player. You can also open YouTube.com and cast directly from your Chrome browser. Next, tap the Chromecast audio zone you want to cast to and then tap Play. When you play your YouTube video, the audio will start playing through Chromecast on the selected VSSL audio zone. When you are finished, tap the Cast button Inactive cast extension and select Disconnect.
