On the front right portion of both the VSSL A.3 and A.6 units, there are a series of LED lights. These are zone lights, which are used to indicate the status of each zone. The A.3 has three lights, one each for zone 1, 2, and 3. The A.6 has six lights, one each for zone 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. These zone lights can be lit with different colors and sequences, depending on the state of your VSSL unit.
Understanding the colors and sequence of the zone lights on your VSSL unit will help you to understand the current state of your VSSL and how to troubleshoot any issues.
When you first plugin and power on your VSSL unit, the zone lights will flash pink. This indicates the unit is initializing.
After initialization is complete, the zone lights will flash red while the unit is booting.
After the unit has booted, the zone lights may blink red in sequence from left to right. This indicates that a firmware update is available for your unit.
The firmware update will occur automatically, after which the zone lights will appear solid white. This means your VSSL unit is ready for setup in the Google Home app.
All the lights will flash white until they are set up in the Google Home up. When you set up a zone, one by one, the LED for that zone will stop flashing.
After you have completed the setup of your VSSL unit, none of the zone lights will be lit. Once you start using your VSSL unit, the zone lights will appear solid white when you are streaming audio to the respective zone.
